Angelique van Os

The Dutch Angelique van Os (1979) is working as a freelance journalist for a great variety of magazines and e-zines. She writes articles about jazz, music and travel. She is editor of Jazzism magazine, has her own travel website pureofftheroad.com together with photographer Henk Bothof, and is chief editor of the travel section of Krant van de Aarde, and writes blogs (in English) at Miljonet.com. In addition to writing, Angelique was and is collaborating with several festivals and projects as a programmer, Press assistant and or coordinator, such as Jazz te Gast, Rockit Festival and Jazz Vibes festival.


Music

Finally, she is also a singer, songwriter and plays saxophone. Angelique is the bandleader of Aphranova. This is a Dutch five piece band, with a jazzy soul funk attitude, which arrived in 2015. “In our music- written by Tony Hoyting and Angelique- we tell stories about love and respect for nature and enviroment and focus on social involvement, always with a critical eye.”

Aphranova performed on several festivals such as Jazz in de Gracht, Jazz Festival Delft, Eurosonic, Bevrijdingsfestival and Preuvenement. And gave concerts at venues like The North Sea Jazz Club, Simplon, Theater De Nieuwe Kolk and De Observant.

Angelique also collaborates with DJ Sandstorm’s Jazz Mash, mashing up jazzy soul and funk music. DJ Sandstorm is a well known Dutch DJ, who worked for big national radio stations such as Radio 3FM, Sublime, SkyRadio, Radio 6 Soul & Jazz and Radio 2.

Together they combine a DJ set in a live music setting, and performed at the Dutch TT festival, Boekengala, Festival de Opening and the North Sea Jazz Festival, featuring trumpeter Rik Mol from the Metropole Orchestra.
